On February 16–17, 2018, under significant public and media attention, the steel structures of a railway bridge in Prague’s Karlín district were dismantled. The bridge, which had been part of the Negrelli Viaduct since 1936, had to be removed as part of the extensive reconstruction of the entire line.
To carry out this demanding operation, a LIEBHERR LG 1550 crane was deployed, equipped with a 42-meter lattice boom and 200 tons of counterweight. Preparations began already on Thursday night, when the crane was transported to the site and assembled. On Friday morning, a test lift was conducted, using another of our machines – the LIEBHERR LTM 1090 – as the test load.
The actual lifts were completed without complications. On Friday afternoon, the first section of the structure, weighing 80 tons, was removed, followed by the second section on Saturday.
